Artist Statement

In the simplest terms, I am a mark-maker. This making of marks, lines, scratches, letters and strokes is central to my work and leads, only incidentally, to an area that is about light, tone and texture. The pictures are about a balance between the "micro"--as each mark has a value that is “weighed as it's made”--and the big picture, which crystallizes in the process of making the work. Both the glass works and paintings are representative of the work I have been making for the past ten years. I do not consider one medium to have greater value than the other. Rather, I see them as complimentary.
